Freckles, the Trick Chicken
Meet Freckles. Freckles is a banty chicken. She is also a trick chicken. I couldn't figure out what the excitement over a tiny chicken was.... but now I get it.

Beautiful baby girl-- strong, healthy, and unafraid. Congrats, Mama: you're doing something right :-)
I have just discovered your blog after an extensive online search on egg bound hens... so, though I came to your story of Goldie, entered so long ago, this was quite by accident... and I have been scrolling through some of the most beautiful stories for over an hour... THANK YOU! I have laughed and cried and found so many similarities... I am the mother of four boys so the most foreign thing for me is the female influence in your family, though I was a born horse lover and oldest child so to your oldest daughter, I RELATE!! I share my life with chickens and horses and cats and dogs and any other living breathing thing that stumbles through the yard or pastures of our little cabin in the woods... just wanted to say thank you for sharing your stories, very well written, SO TRUE and so much fun!!!
Dawn, thanks so much for stopping by! Your sweet comment means so much to me :-) I'm glad you enjoyed the stories from our crazy life up here in the mountains. Four boys? I don't know how you survive. LOL! I let my Oldest know what you said, she was tickled. I do hope you'll keep visiting. I couldn't find the link to your blog, feel free to share it here so I can come read it!
