The Makeup Challenge

I made a deal with myself Thursday night after my shower: I'm going to try to go a week without make up. I did really good with this deal until Friday morning when I looked in the mirror.

I sucked it up though, and I managed. I ran errands all morning without a hint of makeup. I didn't put makeup on when my husband was on his way home, like I do on many days.

And then my mom called and asked if I wanted to go visit my little brother at school. And I thought about how bad I look without makeup, and how he might actually be embarrassed to have to introduce me to friends... and so I gave in. I consoled myself by wearing as little as I could possibly get by with. But in the end? I still failed.

I'm not a girly girl, but I am well aware the wonders a bit of eye liner and foundation can create if used properly.

Ok, so you didn't make it 'till Friday, but you succeeded 'till your mom called. Celebrate that much :-)
The house we moved into had only two mirrors in it, and they're VERY small-- you can't see the whole person at once: just little sections. So I asked Stephen to install a full-length mirror. I said, "I'm not a particularly vain woman, but I'm still a woman!"

I'm just like you. Not a girly girl but my make up has to be on! I once tried to go a day without makeup knowing that I had errands to run. I couldn't bring myself to go out in public without my eyes done!

Did you end up trying again?

Nope, I haven't tried again yet... I've got to take the kids to the dentist today so I'll put some on. But on our "home days" - four days out of the week, usually, I don't bother wearing any. It's a start, anyway - and probably a good break for my skin.

I should challenge myself to go a week WITH makeup LOL lately though if I put on foundation it brings out my wrinkles and who wants that?! oh and yes that is my almost 13 year old....she will not be looking that way daily anytime soon, but she had fun playing

You are right - it probably is a good break for your skin. I'm getting ready to take the littl one out to run one errand. One. And I just finished my makeup. ;)

I won't even attempt this. I really don't wear a lot - no skin stuff, just eyeliner, mascara, blush and a little lipstick. Every now and then, I see someone from high school and it's always like, "eeehhhh, she really let herself go" or "wow, she still looks really good". and then you don't see them again for like the next 10 years! So I'm thinking if someone runs into me, I want the image they keep in their heads to be good, right? Well, this is the theory anyway. Oh, and sometimes they don't even notice that I've spotted them. Then I wonder, how many people have spotted me that I never even knew about?
